because we all want peace

Peace can be such an elusive creature during certain times or seasons of life. Often times, as hard as we try to have peace, peace just does not come.

After a week beginning with fear, doubt and worry, and little peace, God’s timing could not have been more perfect.

I literally stumbled onto this verse in Isaiah today.  What a blessing!

Lord, you establish peace for us; all that we have accomplished you have done for us.

As I read this verse several times, I was forced to stop and think about my own peace – or lack there of.

Could it be that my ‘trying’ is not what brings peace?

I think this passage is pretty clear – only the Lord brings peace to our lives. And, all that we accomplish He does for us.

He establishes peace for us.

I am not sure I have ever really read this verse in that context before.

As I researched definitions of establish this is what I found.

To set and fix firmly or unalterably. To found permanently; to erect and fix or settle . To enact or decree by authority and for permanence.

Don’t you just love those!

I love the thought of God decreeing permanent peace in our lives.

Unfortunately, my peace is very impacted by my current circumstances.

How much more beautiful would it be if our peace came simply from knowing and trusting God?

It’s clear throughout God’s word, we won’t find peace by fretting or worrying. Over and over again He tells us not to fear. Not to fret. Don’t be anxious. And, reminds us what great care He takes in caring for us.

Google some of those phrases in your favorite Bible app and just see what you find.

Yes, His word gives us so many beautiful passages that remind us of how secure our lives are when we put all of our faith and hope in Him.

When we abide in Him and He abides in us beautiful things begin to take place in our lives.

And, He establishes peace. True peace only comes from Him. With lives so deeply rooted in His truths and promises that there is no room for doubt.

Only trust in a perfect, loving Savior. ❤️

Because He says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
