just a little reminder in the middle of a long week

Yes, it is the middle of the week. Not sure about yours, but mine has seemed oh so long.

So yes, in the middle of a crazy busy and overwhelming week, I just want to remind you to keep clinging to His promises.

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” {2 Corinthians 4:16}

Please, can we just let that sink in? As tired as you may be. As weary as your heart may feel. As exhausted as your mind may seem. It’s all going to be okay. Why? Because even though our outward selves may be all these things and more, inwardly we can be renewed. By Him.

Sometimes I forget that on days I feel weary all He really needs is for me to just be still and know. He is more than capable of doing all the rest. I love the following version of this precious verse.

“Cease striving and know that I am God;” {Psalms 46:10} NAS

Cease striving. Stop trying so hard. Don’t worry so much. Try not to get so worked up. Instead, just know that I am God. I am here. I am working. I got this.

And, yes, here comes the promise that follows such a simple, profound command.

“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” {2 Corinthians 4:17}

Thank you, sweet Jesus. No matter what our troubles are today in the middle of this crazy week, eternal glory is coming. And, that glory outweighs any trouble or hassle or problem we might be facing. Not a little. But, FAR outweighs them. Yes, this is what our hearts need during a stressful week.

And, of course, there is more…

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but what is unseen. For what is seen is TEMPORARY {my emphasis}, but what is unseen is ETERNAL {my emphasis}.” {2 Corinthians 4:18}

Let’s do just that. Today, in the middle of the chaos, let’s choose to fix our eyes on Him. Let’s turn our attention to the only One who can meet us in the mess and create a beautiful message. Why not ask Him to help train our eyes to look for the eternal in our day-to-day trials?

He is capable of meeting all our needs in Christ Jesus, friends.

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” {Philippians 4:19}

And, yes, He will meet all of our needs. He knows all of our needs. He really IS all we need.

Thank goodness.

Blessings as you finish out this week.

No striving, just seeking. No troubles, just eternal glory. No focusing on the temporary, but completely focused on Him and all things eternal.

Not just on Wednesday, but every day.
